Compasserie

A small press and film channel publishing luxury travel guidance for gay men over fifty. 38 guides in print, and a free arrival checklist for every country we cover.

Who this is for

One reader. The gay man over fifty who has the means and the time to travel well, and who is tired of being sold either a cruise or a nightclub. He wants a room that is quiet, a walk that is flat, a table worth booking, and an honest answer about whether he can relax in a given country. Most travel media treats this reader as a monolith or ignores him. Compasserie was built for him specifically.

How the facts are checked

Every claim about entry rules, visas, and the legal and social position of gay people in a country is drawn from an official or authoritative source, named on the page, with the date it was checked. Current pages were checked 2026-09-13. Quarterly. Next review December 2026.

Where the law and the practice differ, both are stated, because the law is not what you experience at a hotel desk. Where a source is uncertain, the page says so rather than rounding it into confidence.

Nothing published by Compasserie is legal, medical, or immigration advice. Every page names the authority that actually decides, and you should confirm with it before you travel. Rules change, sometimes without notice, which is why everything here carries a date.

How this is paid for

Two ways, both disclosed. Guides are sold on Kindle. Some booking links earn a commission at no extra cost to you, and every page carrying one says so above the links, not in a footnote. As an Amazon Associate, Compasserie earns from qualifying purchases.

What Compasserie does not do: advertising pixels, retargeting, and selling or sharing your details. Following a man around the internet with gay travel advertising is a real risk on a shared device, so we do not do it at all. The privacy page states that formally, and the disclosure page lists every commercial relationship.

The films

Compasserie is also a film channel. The guides and the films come from the same research and the same standard. Compasserie on YouTube.
