The last working chapter of every guide is a checklist. Three of its lines, quoted exactly, as verified August 2026:
- Accommodation booked with the bed question resolved explicitly: a double rather than a twin if you want one bed, or a ryokan asked directly whether Western beds are available.
- Prescriptions in original packaging with a copy of the prescription, and any restricted-medication rules checked in advance, as Japan's rules are stricter than most countries on certain common drugs.
- Comfortable walking shoes with real grip that you can slip on and off without sitting down, since you will remove them constantly at temples and restaurants.
Quoted from the edition on sale today. Fares, opening hours, and entry rules move, which is why the book names the authority to confirm each one with and the month it was checked. If one of these has gone out of date, tell us at hello@compasserie.com and the edition gets corrected and reissued.
